Everyone knows they should be prepared.
These workshops help them actually do it.
Practical, trauma-informed emergency preparedness workshops for organizations, schools and community groups that care about their people, as well as their protocols.

Inclusive Community Preparedness Series

For schools, organizations, and community groups who need practical tools to address their climate anxiety and build resilience.
* Workshops can stand alone or be part of a series.
Workshop 1:
Staff, students, and community members already have most of what they need. This workshop helps them build a personal, culturally relevant, accessible, and affordable emergency kit - together, during the session.
Participants leave with:
-
A started personal 72hr kit assembled from items they already own — built during the workshop, not as homework
-
Culturally inclusive approaches that meet their mental, emotional and spiritual needs - as well as physical
-
Accessible packing ideas for neurodivergent participants, disabled participants, and caregivers
-
The understanding that organizational resilience starts at home
Why organizations book this: Employee and community wellness extends beyond the workplace. Staff who feel prepared at home show up more present, less anxious, and more able to focus — especially during ongoing climate uncertainty.
PACK IT:
DIY 72-Hour Emergency Kit
Workshop 2:
When an emergency hits, staffs', students', and community members' first instinct won't open a protocol document — it will be to turn to someone they trust. This workshop builds the relational map so that they can then move through protocol together.
Participants leave with:
-
A workplace/school/community asset map: They will identify what and who might be supportive to them personally in an emergency
-
Understanding of their own crisis strengths — not all contributions need to look the same
-
Confidence that they're supported by those around them, not just their kit
Why organizations book this: In any emergency, official response takes time — sometimes minutes, sometimes days. Your team are each other's first responders. This workshop shifts your culture from waiting for help to knowing exactly how to access and share the support around them while the experts arrive.
MAP IT:
Know Your People and Resources
Workshop 3:
Individual and isolated preparedness practices will only get us so far, collective approaches are needed in almost all cases. But connection with neighbours, colleagues, and peers can feel awkward or overwhelming. This workshop changes that.
Participants leave with:
-
Trauma-informed scripts for asking for and offering help without shame
-
Practical language for starting preparedness conversations without fear or pressure
-
Tools for navigating the social barriers — cultural difference, distrust, past harm — that make connection hard
-
A personal plan for one relationship they'll invest in before an emergency hits
-
Understanding of why connection is the most underrated emergency tool
Why organizations book this: Knowing your neighbours, colleagues, peers exists in theory — this workshop makes it real. Staff leave with the confidence and the concrete next step to actually do it.
PLAN IT:
Start the Conversations that Matter
Workshop 4:
The culminating workshop in the series. Teams move from knowing what to do to actually doing it — designing small events and moments that build the relational infrastructure communities need before crisis hits.
Participants leave with:
-
A designed micro-event or connection opportunity ready to implement
-
Creative approaches to community care that on small budgets (if any) and limited capacity
-
Tools to sustain connection over time — so that crisis response is a care response to an existing relationship
-
The experience of having built something together, not just learned together
Why organizations book this: This is where preparedness becomes culture. Teams don't just know what to do — they've practiced doing it, and they have the relationships that make it sustainable.

What People Are Saying
Claire
"I thought I was going to be dreading leaving this workshop because I would feel so behind in my emergency preparedness. I am pleasantly surprised to find that I am actually more prepared than I thought, and I am excited to start applying my learnings!"
Margaret
"I have been to MANY emergency preparedness workshops and this was by far the most uniquely presented one I have been to. I am going to go home and review my emergency kit with some additional considerations from the workshop."
Angela
"DGR’s workshop helped me face the reality of change tactilely - they gave me the push to start my back-up bag for “what if’s”… the biggest impetus was the reminder that in crisis we are often in community, … I highly recommend attending one (or more!) of DGR's connective offerings."
Frequently Asked Questions
How many people can participate?
15-40 is optimal for depth of engagement. Up to 60 is possible with adjusted facilitation approach.
Can we combine workshops from different series?
Absolutely. We can create a custom sequence based on your team's needs and readiness.
How far in advance do we need to book a workshop?
I can usually accommodate bookings at least 2 weeks in advance for an off-the-shelf workshop, and 4 weeks in advance for a customized one.
For multi-session series, I recommend scheduling one workshop per month over three months to give participants time to apply and integrate what they learn between sessions.
Do you offer virtual and in-person?
Yes, both. Virtual sessions work well for geographically dispersed participants. In-person is ideal for participant offsites or intensive learning experiences.
In-person fees:
- Metro Vancouver: +15% facilitation fee
- Travel outside Metro Vancouver: Travel and accommodation costs apply
Do you offer custom workshops?
Yes I do! Let's chat. Book a 20minute Discovery Call here
What if we want ongoing support after the workshop?
Leaders who go through this series often find they want deeper support navigating their own role in building resilient organizations. Land-Informed Leadership Coaching is designed exactly for that — learn more here
