Preparing is Caring
Having lived through Y2K, cared for youth in crisis, and been responsible for the emergency health and safety of almost 30 residential programs at my previous job - I got a bit obsessed with prepping. I take an intersectional, accessible, trauma informed, and collective approach to prepping because I know I cannot thrive alone and so I do it for me, and those around me, for our physical, mental and emotional well-being.

MY APPROACH
INTERSECTIONAL
We will all be affected different by disaster depending on our privilege and power, if we hold privilege and power we are responsible for the wellness of those that may not.
ACCESSIBLE
We may not all be able to use a standard kit due to physical or financial limitations, there are many alternate items we can use to set up the kit that we can upgrade later on.
TRAUMA INFORMED
Most kits only look after our physical wellness, I also include some considerations for social, mental, and emotional wellbeing.
COLLECTIVE
Preparing to make it through an emergency alone can be a lot, I include additional considerations to support others in supporting the collective.
