Happy (Georgian) New Year!
I hope you found moments of rest and joy over the last few weeks - and are staying cozy and dry if applicable to you. (I'm currently watching slush fall and cover the cars and street outside the coffee shop window as I type this newsletter.)
This year I've been reflecting on how to show up more consistently in sharing about Inclusive Community Preparedness. I've been sharing thoughts in this weekly email as I'm inspired - but it isn't always directly connected to preparedness. After seeing the news over the last few days, I've committed to doubling down on sharing only related content.
To me, preparing is caring.
In a world that is doubling down on extraction of resources, exploitation of labour, violation of rights, and national and Indigenous sovereignty, our preparedness is one of the foundational ways we care for us. Part of my preparedness is education and sharing - so you'll be hearing from me more often in your inbox, and get more offerings than you have over the past 6 years of this newsletter. This means sharing more about my workshops and coaching, as well as hopefully zines and podcasts. :)
This month I will be hosting an online workshop, the "DIY Emergency Kit", where you'll get to build a kit from items you already have in your home. We'll focus on caring for ourselves and those we love - as a gift to our future selves - rather than on disasters and emergencies. I encourage you to invite your friends to attend as well so you can help each other out. For example, if you're missing an item you might be able to crowd-source it from friends who have more than one (i.e., can opener or flashlight).
